The ND Department of Human Services’ Behavioral Health Division is making a change to MHT certification, effective August 1, 2020.
Starting August 1, 2020, the ND Department of Human Services’ Behavioral Health Division will no longer certify Mental Health Technicians. Individuals seeking certification as a MHT can obtain certification from a variety of national organizations, see options below. A certificate from any of these organizations will be accepted by ND Medicaid to enroll or re-enroll as a MHT as long as the certificate has the individual’s name, effective date and expiration date.
- American Medical Certification Association (AMCA)
- National Career Certification Board (NCCB)
- National Association of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapists (NACBT)
Current MHT certifications issued by the ND Department of Human Services’ Behavioral Health Division are valid until the expiration date listed on the certificate.
For any questions regarding certification, please contact the Behavioral Health Division and for any questions on ND Medicaid, please contact Krista Fremming, email@example.com.
