We are excited to announce we have migrated back to in person Peer Support training! This next class will be held in Fargo, and we will be offering hotel accommodations and mileage reimbursement for those traveling from out of town to attend the training. We will be utilizing an application process to offer priority to those who have a secured job offer that is dependent upon Peer Support training. Please note, the application below does NOT register you for the training. You will be notified by email 4-6 weeks before the training regarding your application status. Once you are approved, you will receive a link to complete registration for the training.
The Behavioral Health Division has brought in Appalachian Consulting Group’s (ACG) curriculum for peer specialist training, which is a person-centered, goals-oriented, strengths-based curriculum. It is based on the belief that setting a person-centered goal is the heart of the recovery process. Recovery is the process of gaining and maintaining control over one’s life – and the direction one wants that life to go – on the other side of a mental health diagnosis, substance use disorder, and all the losses associated with those challenges. Attendees will learn the core competencies, roles, and tools of conducting Peer Support Specialist work in their communities.
WHO should attend?
- A person who has lived experience in their recovery from mental illness, traumatic brain injury, and/or substance use disorder who is 18 years of age or older.
- A person who is committed to helping others.
- A person who is willing to publicly identify as a person living in recovery for the purpose of educating, role modeling, and providing hope to others about the reality of recovery
- An individual that will be supervising Peer Support specialists
- A family member who has personal lived experience with an individual with a mental health disorder, substance use disorder, brain injury, or any combination thereof;
